Abstract

Based on the medical survey in 2012, the maternal mortality rate in the province of West Sumatra is at 212 per 100,000 live births between western Sumatra 2013. The figure is still far from the desired target. The maternal mortality rate in West Sumatra in 2012 was 16 people slightly up compared to last year, namely 2011 as many as 10 AKI / 16.590 live births. However, the incidence of retained placenta at Dr.M.Djamil Padang tends to decrease because the hospital is receiving emergency obstetric problems which need immediate help, retained placenta can be handled at another hospital. Where retained placenta can cause primary postpartum hemorrhage which is a major cause of maternal mortality. This study aims to determine the factors associated with the incidence of retained placenta in the department. Dr.M.Djamil Padang. In this study, using the analytical method and case control design, collection of data using secondary data rigister book delivery in the department. Dr.M.Djamil Padang. The population of as many as 27 cases and 27 controls are not retained placenta so that the total population of 54 people and sample collection by total population. Data processed served with frequency tabulation and cross tabulation then analyzed with Chi-Square Test. The result showed the majority of maternal age 20-35 years as many as 32 people (59.3%) and the majority primiparous parity as many as 38 people (70.4%). While mothers who have retained placenta. While mothers who experience retained placenta as many as 27 people (50%). The results of data analysis for the life of the Chi-Square test was obtained p value = 0.000 (p <0.05) so Ha is received, to parity obtained p value = 0.001 (p <0.05), the Ha accepted and delivery distance p value = 0.005 (p <0.05), the Ha accepted. Based on these results it can be concluded that there is a relationship between age, parity and distance delivery with the incidence of retained placenta. Therefore, health workers, especially midwives should be able to handle retained placenta quickly and accurately so that the incidence of primary postpartum hemorrhage and maternal mortality rates are minimized.
